The Coalition for Career Development Center (CCD) is an industry-led nonpartisan coalition committed to making career readiness the first priority of American education and dedicated to transforming career development through priorities including education reform, research initiatives, stakeholder engagement and more. The CCD Center has identified five pillars for creating high-quality career development systems:
  • Prioritizing career planning
  • Providing professional career advising
  • Emphasizing applied and work-based learning
  • Providing high-quality career development technology
  • Ensuring accountability.
These pillars guide its initiatives in three areas:
  • Quality Credentials
  • Policy
  • Technology
The CDC State Leaders Career Development Network includes leaders from all 50 states, Washington, DC, and national organizations. Participants include leaders from state education agencies (e.g., school counseling, special education, career and technical education, college and career readiness), state workforce development agencies, vocational rehabilitation agencies, and higher education. The Network meets monthly to discuss career development implementation efforts, especially related to the use of personalized career and academic plans. The 2022 Career Readiness Summit held in May 2022 focused on building a national community focused on making career readiness the number one education priority in America. The CCD Center also disseminates evidence-based career readiness policy and practices.
