Founded in 1979, the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) is a nonprofit organization which represents and supports over 590 workforce development boards across the United States. NAWB is focused on policy and advocacy efforts, promoting policies and initiatives that promote workforce development, job training, and economic growth. NAWB works with federal agencies, policymakers, and stakeholders to shape workforce policies and advance the interests of its members.

NAWB also focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of local workforce development programs by providing resources, training, and technical assistance to its membership. Through conferences, workshops, and webinars, NAWB facilitates networking, knowledge sharing, and best practices among workforce professionals, helping their members stay informed about the latest trends and innovations in the field. Additionally, NAWB offers research and analysis on workforce issues, empowering its members to make data-driven decisions and adapt to changing economic conditions.

NAWB also aims to foster collaboration among workforce development stakeholders, including employers, educational institutions, government agencies, and community organizations. By bringing these groups together, NAWB promotes partnerships that align training programs with industry needs, facilitate job placement, and support career advancement for workers.

NAWB initiatives include:

  • ​​Family-Centered Employment – focused on family-centered employment and workforce development approaches and solutions
  • Future of Work – collaborative dialog series focused on the understanding of how technology and automation impacts the future of work
  • Solar Training Initiative – funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, this effort is aimed at training 75,000 people for careers in the solar industry
  • Registered Apprenticeship Initiative – the Supply Chain Automation Workforce Hub, provides training and experience opportunities for supply chain automation specialist careers
  • Industry Partnerships - Business & Industry Alliance partners and collaborators who work directly with NAWB to advance workforce programs
