Overview

Launched in 2022, ResearchDataGov (RDG) is an online portal for discovering and requesting access to restricted microdata from federal statistical agencies. RDG advances the evidence-building capabilities of the federal government, a key goal of the Foundations for Evidence-based Policymaking Act of 2018. The portal pulls data from 16 federal agencies and more than 1000 datasets.

ResearchDataGov.org is a product of the federal statistical agencies and units. The agencies provide detailed descriptions of each data asset. Users can search for data by topic, agency, and keywords. Questions related to the data are directed to the owning agency. Users are able to apply for access to these data using a single-application process built into ResearchDataGov.
