Abigail Smith

Abigail Smith partnered with the Learn & Work Ecosystem Library as a Library Assistant for spring, summer, and fall 2025.

A quirky nomad, she has traveled around the world twice and enjoys living and working in diverse cultures, having studied Intercultural Studies in her master’s program. Her past experience in education includes teaching secondary school students in Spain and teaching Spanish at a U.S. university. She is currently studying Information Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and looking forward to starting a new career as an information professional working in data curation or geographic information systems. Never afraid to think outside the box, Abigail is always eager to learn new skills and help others find the right fit for their learning and career goals.

“My experience with the Learn & Work Ecosystem assistantship thrived at the intersection of digital curation and discovery, learning how to wrangle information, combat link rot, and harness new tools like AI to enable individuals to discover lifelong learning and career development, all within the unique framework of the Library’s mission.”
