The Bosch Management Support (BMS) and New Skills Support (NSS) schemes are internal workforce-management initiatives implemented by Bosch in the UK to retain institutional knowledge and provide flexible work arrangements. The BMS scheme invites former employees, often retirees or people who have left Bosch but maintain standing, to return on a part-time or short-term basis. This approach enables Bosch to access experienced personnel quickly, without long on-boarding, especially when specialist knowledge is needed. The NSS scheme complements this by offering flexible roles to students nearing graduation who have already done internships; they can continue with the company during their final academic year, bridging the gap between student and full-time employment.
These initiatives, started in 2005, help Bosch accelerate project delivery, maintain continuity of expertise, and increase agility in responding to peaks of work, while offering participants meaningful work experience or continued engagement with the company. For students, NSS provides a transitional role that combines study and employment, enhancing work readiness and potentially leading to full-time employment. For former employees, BMS offers a way to stay professionally active, sharing their skills in a flexible format.
