Launched in 2000, FSG (formerly “Foundation Strategy Group”) became a nonprofit consulting firm in 2006.  The organization partners with foundations, corporations, nonprofits, and governments to support equitable systems change. It operates in multiple continents (with offices in the U.S., Europe, Asia) and across sectors.

FSG's work integrates:

  • Strategy and theory of change
  • Research, data, and evaluation
  • Facilitation, convening, and learning
  • Field building via learning communities and programs.

Examples of FSG's work includes:

  • Aetna Foundation — Designing a Signature Initiative
    • Worked with the Aetna Foundation to help them refine their philanthropic vision, focus their portfolio, and design a flagship initiative in health innovation and equity.
  • Corporate Equity Strategy & Philanthropy
    • Has helped multiple companies (such as the Walmart Foundation, Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, and Genentech) to craft equity-centered strategies, integrate social purpose into business units, and align philanthropic efforts with systemic impact.
  • Sanitation Enterprises & Market Systems Work
    • Under a USAID-funded project, FSG published a report “Creating Viable and Sustainable Sanitation Enterprises,” analyzing sanitation ventures in Cambodia, India, and Nigeria to surface lessons about sustainability in market-based sanitation models.
