Founded in 2000, the Ichigo Foundation is a nonprofit organization that seeks to increase access and higher education success for low-income and first-generation students.

Examples of grantees include:

  • Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF)
    • Programs that strengthen student success, career readiness, and equity at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and for first-generation learners.
  • UNCF (United Negro College Fund)
    • Scholarship support and retention programs that help low-income students access college and persist through degree completion.
  • Student Achievement Partners (SAP)
    • Work that improves learning outcomes and instructional quality in K–12, which strengthens college readiness, particularly for students from underserved backgrounds.
  • Education Trust
    • Research and advocacy to close equity gaps in postsecondary access and success, including data disaggregation and policy change to benefit low-income and first-generation students.
  • National College Attainment Network (NCAN)
    • Improve college access, enrollment, and success through data-driven strategies and student support networks.
  • College Success Foundation
    • Mentoring, advising, and financial coaching designed to help first-generation and low-income students persist in college.
  • America Achieves
    • Strengthen learning and academic rigor, particularly in math — key to postsecondary readiness for underserved populations.
