John M. Belk Endowment is a nonprofit community service philanthropy based in North Carolina. The Endowment addresses pressing educational issues and aligns the qualifications of the workforce with the current needs of employers. The Endowment champions causes such as building community, advocating for education, and preparing the next generation of young people so that they lead productive and fulfilling lives.

John M. Belk Endowment's funding focus areas include:

  • Improving access to postsecondary education
  • Increasing underrepresented students' completion of postsecondary education
  • Collaboration with workforce areas that lead students to living-wage employment

Examples of programs:

  • John M. Belk Impact Fellowship serves as a training ground for aspiring social impact leaders who are currently enrolled in community college, undergraduate, or graduate programs in North Carolina. Students of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to apply, especially those who identify as people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, first-generation college students, and/or low-income students.
  • Education Matters. Investing In Human Capital. Preparing For Future Jobs. The goal is to empower today’s workforce by creating pathways to and through postsecondary education for underrepresented students. The Endowment is committed to help them attain the marketable skills and training needed to gain meaningful employment.
