EDUCAUSE offers microcredentials to member audiences for participation in various professional development activities. EDUCAUSE microcredentials recognize an individual’s achievements, expertise and skill acquisition, engagement, and volunteer service with EDUCAUSE and the professional community. EDUCAUSE also supports members with programming, resources, research, and community engagement to help them advance on-campus digital credentials initiatives.
The Learning Lab: Building A High Quality Microcredential Program has asynchronous and synchronous components. Each lab sequence includes a set of resources, asynchronous discussion, and an interactive live session that culminate in the development of a project or application to apply learning to local and specific contexts in support of the learning objectives. Individuals who complete learning objectives of a learning lab receive a microcredential.
EDUCAUSE offers more than 100 microcredentials within four categories to its members (higher education IT leaders and professionals):
The EDUCAUSE Microcredentials and Badges Community Group provides a community space for all aspects of research, design, and implementation of microcredentialing and/or digital badging systems. This includes questions and reflections on the emerging ecosystem of Open Badging and what it means for traditional educational and professional development paradigms.
