The Education Trust is a national nonprofit organization that advances policies and practices to dismantle the racial and economic barriers embedded in the American education system. Through research and advocacy, Ed Trust improves equity in education from preschool through college, engages diverse communities dedicated to education equity and justice, and increases political and public will to build an education system where students will thrive.

Efforts focus on:

2024 policy priorities:

  • Ensuring equitable, meaningful access to higher education
  • Reducing college costs and providing wraparound supports
  • Ensuring college and career readiness for students of color
  • Expanding policies to increase educator and faculty diversity
  • Ensuring access to safe, equitable and positive learning environments and equitable school funding

Education Trust was created in the 1990s.  Nonprofit status was achieved in 1997. The organization has several sites:
