Established in 1921, the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating in and around the greater Sarasota area in Florida, dedicated to supporting businesses and fostering economic growth in the region. The chamber aims to promote the overall growth and development of the business environment. The organization promotes networking and partnerships through conferences and leadership programs. It also supports initiatives and grant funding opportunities to assist with workforce development and training programs.

The chamber facilitates networking events and conferences, where business owners and professionals can connect, share ideas, and build relationships. These events provide opportunities for collaboration and help businesses expand their reach. Workshops and seminars cover a range of topics, including marketing strategies, financial management, and technology integration. These events aim to enhance the competitiveness of businesses in Sarasota by equipping them with the tools they need to adapt to a dynamic market.

The Chamber of Commerce also provides workforce development programs designed to:

  • find and identify skills gaps
  • identify labor shortages among area businesses
  • provide resources and training opportunities to job seekers
  • match job seekers with businesses seeking employees

To meet these goals, the chamber oversees the CareerEdge Funders Collaborative, which is  focused on workforce development programs designed to assist learners and job seekers gain skills and experience through on-the-job training and internship programs. The initiative provides funding to business partners, with the goal of helping employers attract and employ new and skilled workers.

Additionally, the organization provides grant funding opportunities to small and minority owned businesses through its Opportunities for All (OFA) program. This program intends to assist in the growth of qualified businesses by providing small grant funding awards. Additionally, the program assists these businesses by pairing potential job seekers with the businesses through internship opportunities.
