Founded in 1946, American Institutes for Research (AIR) is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that conducts behavioral and social science research and delivers technical assistance to solve challenges in the U.S. and globally. AIR’s work includes projects focused on education, health, human services, international efforts, and the workforce.

AIR works with government agencies and organizations to provide:

• Informed improvement to selected areas
• Collaboration that leads to the adoption of evidence-based practices
• Global and local partnerships for change
• Research-based expertise in selected areas

In addition to the projects and reports related to AIR’s ongoing mission, the organization launched a new commitment in 2021: the AIR Opportunity Fund – a ten-year $225 million investment in innovative research and solutions aimed at addressing underlying causes of systemic inequities and lack of opportunities, working with local partners to create change. Investments include community-driven projects, research and evidence building, capacity building programs, and leadership development in four areas:
