Skillpoint Alliance is nonprofit workforce development organization based in Austin, Texas.  Founded in 1994, the organization provides free in-demand skilled trade training to vulnerable members of the Central Texas community, working in tandem with industry partners. The Alliance was a solution to the lack of apprenticeship and craft training in the City of Austin. Its Gateway rapid job training program has expanded since its first graduating class in 1994 to offer five certifications across the construction and healthcare industries.
  • In 2015, the Gateway program expanded to provide certification programs to the Waco/Killeen region.
  • In addition to adult training programs, Skillpoint Alliance also provides Gateway training tailored to Austin-area opportunity youth with the goal to provide  opportunities to gain industry-recognized credentials for at-risk youth to help close the poverty gap and help them embark upon a successful career.
  • In April 2012, Skillpoint Alliance announced its partnership with hiring platform Indeed to help those who have spent time in prison get into manufacturing occupations.
  • In 2018, Skillpoint launched a redesigned and customized Pre-Apprentice Electrical class, followed by a Pre-Apprentice Plumbing program in 2019. Skillpoint also currently offers HVAC Tech, Certified Production Technician, and other short-term and customizable training options.
