The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop, from the French) is one of the European Union’s decentralized agencies. Founded in 1975 and based in Greece since 1995, Cedefop supports development of European vocational education and training (VET) policies and assists in their implementation.
The agency is helping the European Commission, European Union (27 member states), and the social partners to develop the right European VET policies.
As part of its agenda on VET’s future, Cedefop is studying the role of microcredentials in facilitating learning for employment. The study is explaining the characteristics of microcredentials; their added value to individual learners, employees and employers; and impact on current qualifications and recognition systems.
