Founded in 1974 as the Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation, the organization officially changed its name to MDRC in 2003. MDRC is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization focused on the design and implementation of solutions to meet challenges in education and workforce development to meet the needs of individuals, children, and families in low-income and underserved communities. MDRC develops new intervention solutions, evaluates existing programs, and provides technical assistance designed to build better programs and deliver effective interventions at scale. The organization brings together public and private funders to test new policy-relevant ideas, and communicate what is learned to policymakers and practitioners.
