New America is a think tank in the United States founded in 1999. It focuses on a range of public policy issues, including national security studies, technology, asset building, health, gender, energy, education, and the economy. The higher education area within the Education Policy Program focuses on federal policies to increase quality, transparency, and equity in higher education as well as the politics of higher education reform. Recent topics of attention have focused on:
  • For-profit colleges and myths in institutional equity
  • English learner accountability hub
  • Student loan borrowers and policy solutions
  • Special education teacher workforce
  • High quality early language teacher shortages
  • Early language assessment and data systems
  • Equity minded paid work-based learning opportunities for college students
  • Education affordability crisis.
