The Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF®) is a national private philanthropy. Started in 1948 by UPS's founder, Jim Casey, to honor his mother, AECF has focused on developing a brighter future for millions of children and young people with respect to their educational, economic, social and health outcomes.

Work focuses on strengthening families, building stronger communities and ensuring access to opportunity; and advancing research and solutions to overcome the barriers to success, help communities demonstrate what works and influence decisionmakers to invest in strategies based on solid evidence.

AECF makes grants that help federal agencies, states, counties, cities, and neighborhoods create more innovative, cost-effective responses to challenges facing children and young people.

Strategies focus on helping to improve the lives of millions of children, families and communities across the country in the following nine areas:

  • Child Welfare
  • Community Change
