Credential Engine is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses on providing clear and reliable information about various credentialing programs and certifications. Its primary goal is to help provide people with access to information regarding credentials and to utilize this information to further connect people with suitable credentialing opportunities.

Credential Engine works to ensure that everyone has access to accurate and up-to-date information about education and training. By collaborating with schools, employers, and other entities, they created and aim to grow adoption of a standardized language, the Credential Transparency Description Language (CTDL), for discussing education and skills in an accessible and easy to understand format. This common language is designed to make it easier for individuals to compare different learning options, such as college degrees, certificates, or workplace training programs.

Credential Engine works towards fostering transparency and clarity in the field of education. To advance this work, Credential Engine maintains a credential registry which provides detailed information on many varieties of credentials in an accessible format. Additionally, the organization works with policymakers to promote public policy efforts aimed at increasing credentialing transparency throughout the United States.
