The Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN) is a partnership of ten community colleges and seven Michigan Works! Agencies in southeast Michigan that fosters collaboration among workforce development, community colleges, four-year postsecondary institutions, K-12 schools, economic development organizations, government, community-based organizations, employers, and others. WIN ‘s mission is to help cultivate a cohesive talent system by facilitating data-driven workforce solutions to ensure responsiveness to changing labor market demands.
The WIN One Workforce Industry Infinity team developed 12 career pathways tailored to high-demand occupations in southeast Michigan, and that use data to create pathways to support workforce planning, career counseling, and program development. The pathways emphasize short-term training credentials.
Developed with data sourced in 2023, pathways were designed to address the demand for skilled professionals in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Transportation, Robotics, and Advanced Manufacturing. Resources (2-page documents) were developed to describe short-term training credentials aimed at equipping career seekers, high school counselors, and workforce development professionals with comprehensive educational and wage information.
Guides for individual career pathways:
WIN’s research and data capabilities include primary and secondary data gathering, analysis (including statistical and econometric analysis), application, and communication. WIN data, including real-time data gathered from online job postings, informs local, state, and national partners’ decisions about education and training investments, policy-shaping, program design, equipment purchases, talent pipeline management and workforce planning, career awareness and readiness efforts, career pathways, and process improvement efforts.
The Industry Infinity Supply Chain training model incorporates an array of credentials, microcredentials, and customized training programs. This approach enables pre- and post-hires to obtain skills and education, supporting paths to earning a degree or a promotion. The approach also incorporates registered apprenticeship programs.
WIN is part of SEMCA, an organization governed by two volunteer boards that fulfill specific functions of the organization: the Workforce Development Board and the Southeast Governmental Alliance (SEGA). SEMCA provides administrative services to the Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN).
