Founded in 1965, the North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) is a nonprofit organization established to address poverty and community development in Northeast Missouri. NECAC operates across 12 counties, providing various programs and services aimed at assisting low-income individuals and families. NECAC provides assistance programs designed to meet challenges in the three focus areas of community services, housing development, and community health.

NECAC’s community services programs and initiatives include:

  • energy assistance
  • family development
  • housing choice voucher – section 8
  • SkillUp program – provides skill building, employer connections, and training assistance to job seekers receiving food stamp benefits.
  • VOICE – Vocational Opportunities Inspiring Children in Elementary, a program designed to expose elementary aged children from low-income households to vocational career opportunities

NECAC operates various community development programs aimed at promoting economic self-sufficiency and stability. These programs include job training and placement services, as well as financial literacy education to help individuals build skills and knowledge necessary for long-term success. Furthermore, the organization supports youth development initiatives, such as after-school programs and mentorship opportunities, to empower young people and promote positive outcomes.
