1EdTech Consortium is a global nonprofit membership organization dedicated to advancing an open, trusted, and interoperable educational technology ecosystem. Formerly known as IMS Global Learning Consortium, 1EdTech brings together educational institutions, technology suppliers, government agencies, and workforce organizations to develop, certify, and promote open technical standards that improve interoperability, reduce implementation costs, accelerate innovation, and expand opportunities for learners worldwide. The Consortium's work spans K-12 education, higher education, workforce development, and corporate learning.

1EdTech develops and maintains widely adopted open standards including Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI®), OneRoster®, Open Badges, the Comprehensive Learner Record (CLR) Standard™, and the Competencies and Academic Standards Exchange® (CASE®). The organization also supports implementation through certification programs, technical guidance, communities of practice, and annual convenings such as the Learning Impact Conference.

In 2026, the organization expanded its public-benefit mission by establishing 1EdTech Global Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization created to support charitable, research, education, and ecosystem-building initiatives that complement the Consortium's standards-development work. While the Consortium continues to lead member-driven standards development and interoperability, 1EdTech Global serves as a steward for public-interest initiatives, collaborative infrastructure, research, and ecosystem resources that extend beyond traditional standards activities. As part of this new structure, the Learn & Work Ecosystem Library joined the 1EdTech family through 1EdTech Global in summer 2026, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening knowledge infrastructure across education and workforce development.

Examples of services in the 1EdTech’s TrustEd Apps Program include:

  • TrustEd Apps Pledge: Commitment by the 1EdTech community to prioritize open standards and data privacy in educational technology integrations. It serves as a call to action for schools, universities, and edtech suppliers to ensure a level playing field when purchasing and implementing digital tools. By endorsing the pledge, organizations demonstrate their commitment to plug-and-play integration and responsible data practices.
  • TrustEd Apps Vetting and Certification: IEdTech vets thousands of applications, making the detailed results accessible to its members in the TrustEd Apps Directory. Products that meet the requirements earn the TrustEd Apps Seal, signifying their commitment to data privacy. Institutions can use this directory to make informed decisions; some require the TrustEd Apps Seal in their contracts and RFPs.
  • TrustEd Apps Management Suite: Tool that allows institutions to share curated edtech applications, validated for both privacy and interoperability, with their teachers and community. It acts as a central hub for a secure and institution-approved set of instructional options, streamlining the selection and deployment process.
  • TrustEd Apps Certified Leader (TACL) Program: This professional certification program (a series of modules) equips educational leaders with the expertise to effectively implement 1EdTech open standards, to better navigate the complexities of digital learning and building interoperable ecosystems.
