JPMorgan Chase & Co

JPMorgan Chase is one of the oldest financial institutions in the United States, with a history dating back over 200 years.

Its philanthropic programs focus on four pillars: (1) Jobs and Skills, (2) Neighborhood Development, (3) Financial Health, and (4) Small Business Expansion.

The Jobs and Skills program was founded in the recognition that by 2030, it is estimated that more than 30% of the U.S. labor market (and 375 million workers globally) will need to change jobs or upgrade their skills to advance within the workforce.

In 2020, Chase initiated a $350 million investment over five years to develop, test, and scale innovative efforts that prepare individuals with the skills they need to be successful in a rapidly changing economy. Investments focus on populations most at risk of getting left behind as technological developments change industries and career pathways.

To support these efforts, JPMorgan Chase’s Policy Center focuses on developing and advancing sustainable, evidence-based education and skills policies to drive inclusive economic growth in the U.S. and around the world. The Policy Center has advanced several recommendations to prepare students for good careers and economic mobility:

  • Scaling high-quality integrated career pathways with state support.
  • Creating seamless connections from high school to post-secondary to career.
  • Expanding access to work-based learning experiences.
  • Ensuring access and opportunity for all.
  • Leveraging employer partnerships.

A main area of focus is Career Readiness —helping to better prepare young people for the jobs of today and tomorrow by making new commitments and advancing smarter policy solutions. This focus is driven by the recognition that globally, some one-fifth of young people ages 15-24 are neither employed nor receiving education or training. One approach to addressing this situation is to develop and support alternative pathways to obtain the skills and experience necessary to succeed in the labor market.

The Chase philanthropic program is taking an integrated approach by focusing on:

  • Investing in Community Partners
  • Advancing Policy Solutions
  • Mentoring and Support
