Founded in 1999, New America is a liberal think tank and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on research and policy recommendations aimed at "realizing the promise of America in an era of rapid technological and social change." New America is funded by a variety of donors, including foundations, philanthropic individuals, corporations, and governments. New America states that it is committed to principles of transparency and independence, and financial supporters do not direct or influence the organization’s research or educational activities.
