Moz (SEOMoz)

Moz is a company that focuses on inbound, digital marketing related to search engine optimization (SEO).  The company develops marketing analytics software to provide solutions in areas such as keyword research, rank tracking, site crawl, link research, and custom reports. It focuses on innovation of best-in-class SEO software and development of educational resources.

Moz was founded in 2004 and called SEOmoz. It began as a blog and online global community where SEO experts shared their research and ideas. Early products included the Beginner's Guide to SEO and a Search Ranking Factors study.  This hub of industry expertise transformed into a small consulting firm which created SEO tools.

In 2007, the company shifted its focus from consulting to software, to power the development of new software tools and ideas.

A series B investment from The Foundry Group enabled efforts to expand to the broader realm of inbound marketing.

In 2013, SEOmoz was rebranded as Moz and the company issued Moz Analytics that included features for content, social media, and brand management in addition to links and rankings.

The Moz Group was formed in 2021 following acquisition by iContact (a subsidiary of Ziff Davis (NASDAQ: ZD).  iContact and its sibling brands — Campaigner, SMTP, and Kickbox — together operate as a subsidiary of J2 Global (NASDAQ: JCOM). They help small and mid-sized businesses with advanced email marketing automation tools.
