The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation (PJMF) is a philanthropic nonprofit organization established to support initiatives aimed at advancing data science, the ethical application of artificial intelligence (AI), and technology driven social impact. The foundation focuses on funding projects and programs that have the potential to positively impact human health and well-being. The foundation collaborates with a diverse range of partners including research institutions, universities, nonprofit organizations, and technology companies.

The organization provides grant opportunities to partner and collaborative organizations and philanthropies to further the application of technology in:

  • information technology
  • neuroscience
  • education
  • community development

The organization supports efforts to utilize AI and data science as transformative tools to develop equitable systems as well as to democratize resources to establish a more equitable and inclusive technological ecosystem.

PJMF also supports the use of AI tools for journalistic applications. The JournaPilot product provides an open-source, AI powered platform designed to assist journalists and communicators generate social media ready content for quick posting and sharing.

PJMF’s Data Practice initiative aims to connect nonprofit organizations with technological guidance systems to help drive data driven solutions to modern challenges.
