Schmidt Futures is a philanthropic nonprofit organization established in 2017 which aims to address some of the world's most pressing challenges through a combination of technology, science, and partnerships. Their approach involves supporting individuals and organizations with promising ideas and providing them with resources, mentorship, and connections to help bring innovative ideas to fruition.

The Schmidt Futures provides numerous opportunities, initiatives, and programs aimed at identifying and supporting talented individuals who have the potential to drive meaningful change. Schmidt Futures seeks to foster collaboration and innovation by bringing together experts from different fields to tackle complex problems. Current programs and initiatives include:

  • Rise – collaboration with Rhodes Trust to encourage youth to network and develop lifetime service efforts to work towards positive societal change
  • Technologists for Global Transformation – training, networking, and career development initiative which encourages and deploys technologists globally to work towards bridging the gaps between science & technology and socio-economic and ecological change
  • International Strategy Forum – fellowship which aims to provide a network of rising leaders from interdisciplinary fields focused on geopolitics, innovation, and public leadership
  • Innovation Grants – support for ideas that leverage technological efforts to find creative solutions to societal challenges
  • Convergent Research – collaborative nonprofit startup focused on support for Focused Research Organizations (FROs)
  • Schmidt Sciences – global solutions driven philanthropic efforts to support science and technology advancements in:
    • AI and advanced computing
    • astrophysics and space
    • biosciences
    • climate
    • cross-science programs
