Dallas College
The Marketable Skills and Digital Badging unit at Dallas College and the Learn & Work Ecosystem library are partnering to test the Library’s usefulness as a reference tool as Dallas College explores plans to implement a Learning and Employment Records (LER) solution over the next academic year. The partnership will explore how to provide proper identification and levelling of skills-based digital credentials (e.g. badges) between 2- and 4-year institutions, as well as strategies for engaging with the College’s service area employers and community organizations to heighten awareness of student skills acquisition.
Dallas College is a public community college with seven campuses in Dallas County, Texas. The College offers 300+ academic and technical degrees and certificates; 100+ high-demand career programs and training; and serves 100K+ students in credit and continuing education. The College employs 3,200+ total full-time and adjunct faculty. Dallas College originally operated as a district of seven independently accredited colleges. In 2020, those colleges united under a single name to offer students a more streamlined, more convenient experience. The seven original campuses continue as its primary locations: Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, Northlake, and Richland.
Dallas College is part of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) Accelerator Coalition 2025 cohort to implement LERs.

"Dallas College’s mission is 'to transform lives and communities through higher education.' That mission includes a moral imperative to help our students recognize, articulate and showcase what they know and can do because of their experience at Dallas College. This imperative is the foundation of our Marketable Skills and Digital Badging initiative. In addition to creating opportunities to showcase skills and abilities, it’s equally important to place sense-making, transparency, and awareness of digital credential frameworks at the forefront of our initiatives. Working with the Library will provide information and support to identify those frameworks and propose best practices for institutions, employers and the greater community."
