Established in 1945, the Alamo Colleges District is a community college system based in San Antonio, Texas, that serves a network of five independently accredited colleges: San Antonio College, St. Philip's College, Palo Alto College, Northwest Vista College, and Northeast Lakeview College. The system offers more than 350 associate degree and certificate programs, along with continuing education and workforce training. Programs include associate degrees for transfer to four-year universities and occupational programs that prepare students directly for jobs in sectors like healthcare, cybersecurity, and manufacturing.

Examples of key initiatives:

  • "SA Ready to Work" program: Alamo Colleges serve as an approved training partner, providing free tuition and job placement assistance for in-demand careers.
  • The Workforce Center of Excellence works closely with local businesses to ensure its training is relevant and effective.
  • The International Nursing Pathway addresses workforce gaps in the region.
  • Early College High Schools and P-TECH programs focus on seamless transition for students from high school to college or directly into skilled careers.
  • In October 2025, the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees approved the creation of the School for Online Learning. The new school will unify over 160 online programs under a single, coordinated framework designed to ensure consistency, connection, and quality across the Alamo Colleges. Since the earlier launch of AlamoONLINE, new instructional design efforts, expanded microcredential programs, and opportunities for students to earn credit for prior learning have been developed. The district has received national recognition for high standards in course design and student engagement through the Quality Matters™ Endorsement for Course Design Quality Assurance.
