Founded in 2012, Education at Work (E@W) is a national nonprofit organization focused on helping college students gain meaningful, paid work experience while still enrolled at their university. E@W partners with universities and employers to build flexible work-based learning opportunities that support both students’ academic success and career readiness.

Some examples of their work:

  • Financial and Academic Support: Alongside wages, E@W gives tuition assistance, which helps reduce financial burden. Their model aims to balance work and studies so students can maintain progress toward their degrees without compromising either.
  • Partnerships with Employers and Universities: E@W works with leading companies and higher education institutions. These partnerships serve two purposes: employers get early access to motivated talent, and universities can offer students structured work experiences that relate to their academic goals.
  • Impact and Scale: E@W reports that they have helped nearly 10,000 students, delivering over $119 million in student wages and tuition assistance. Their model is built around measurable outcomes, with students gaining experience and skills while easing financial obstacles.

2025 Update

As of August 31, 2025, Education at Work officially became part of the American Student Assistance (ASA).  In this new partnership, E@W will gain access to ASA’s broader network, deeper links with policymakers, fundraising channels, and visibility. E@W will continue operating under its own name, mission, and leadership. With ASA’s backing, E@W aims to:

  • Expand into new regions
  • Open additional “Talent Hubs”
  • Form stronger partnerships with employers and colleges.
