Founded in 1999, Nocti Business Solutions (NBS) is a business services subsidiary of the U.S. nonprofit credentialing organization (NOCTI), providing fee-based workforce assessment and testing services to employers and industry. NBS is managed by the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI, a nonprofit that offers industry credentials and other resources for career and technical education (CTE), including resources to support teachers, administrators, and other CTE professionals.

NBS offers fee-based services such as pre-employment testing, technical skills assessments for both entry-level and experienced job roles, and customized workforce solutions. The assessments help employers determine what knowledge and skills applicants and employees have, as well as how advanced their knowledge of certain topics is.

NBS also offers Prior Learning Assessments (PLAs). These allow people with work experience to earn college credit for their professional experience and technical skills. These assessments cost $150, and if students score higher than 70%, NBS will recommend to a college or university that the student receive between 1 - 6 college credits.

NBS offers nearly 150 assessments in these primary topic areas:

  • Agriculture
  • Architectural Drafting
  • Business
  • Computer/Information Technology (IT)
  • Construction
  • Consumer Economics
  • Culinary Arts
  • Electrical
  • Engineering
  • Healthcare
  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
  • Machine
  • Maintenance
  • Media Services/Performing Arts
  • Transportation

Some skills can be assessed at varying levels. For example, NBS offers foundational, basic, and advanced assessments in accounting.

NBS partners with many community colleges, career development centers, and Workforce Investment Boards across the U.S. for testing locations. Through these partnerships, there are Industry Resource Center (IRC) testing centers in 24 states.
