Humanist is an independent venture studio, media platform, and advisory practice focused on the future of artificial intelligence, learning, and work. Founded in 2024 by Allison Dulin Salisbury and Paul Freedman, Humanist works with educators, researchers, entrepreneurs, philanthropies, and policymakers to explore how AI is reshaping education, workforce development, and human potential. Through original research, thought leadership, strategic advising, and the publication of The Humanist, the organization examines emerging trends and encourages new approaches to teaching, learning, assessment, credentials, and the future of work.
Humanist also collaborates with philanthropic organizations and other partners on sponsored research and special reports. Its publications are intended to provoke discussion and inspire innovation rather than prescribe specific policies or practices.
Recent work supported by the Walton Family Foundation includes Twelve Provocations for the Future of AI and Assessment, which explores how AI may fundamentally reshape educational assessment.
