SHRM Foundation

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Indianapolis, Conexus Indiana is a statewide nonprofit focused on advancing Indiana's advanced manufacturing and logistics (AML) industries. Conexus serves as the AML initiative of the Indiana Corporate Partnership (ICP), which brings together leaders from Indiana's corporations, foundations, and educational institutions to support growth in key sectors of the state's economy. With more than 250 partners, Conexus connects industry, education, and public-sector leaders across Indiana. Conexus works to advance its mission to strengthen AML industries through workforce development, technology adoption, industry-education alignment, and economic development.

Conexus organizes its work around three main service areas: driving industry success, activating talent, and peer learning. Examples of projects include:

  • Industry Talent Association (ITA)
    • Statewide structure developed by AML employers to define occupational standards in advanced manufacturing and logistics, allowing companies to address talent challenges collaboratively rather than individually.
  • Catapult Indiana
    • 160-hour training program for adults and high school students preparing for careers in advanced manufacturing and logistics.
  • Work-Based Learning
    • Resources and support for connecting students and workers to hands-on learning experiences in AML settings.
  • Education Readiness Grants
    • Grants supporting educational institutions in developing and expanding AML-aligned programs.
    • Lunched in 2022 in partnership with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education's career and technical education (CTE) team.
    • Provide annual grants of up to $100,000 to Indiana high schools to purchase hardware and software that give students foundational exposure to smart manufacturing technology.
    • Program designed as a student-focused complement to the employer-targeted Manufacturing Readiness Grants program and has since expanded in partnership with TechPoint to also include digital technology and information technology programs.
  • Industry Exchange Workshops
    • Peer learning sessions where AML leaders share practices and insights across companies and sectors.
  • Advanced Industries Council
    • Forum for senior AML leaders to engage on strategic issues facing the industry.
  • Workforce Dashboard
    • Interactive data tool built on Tableau that tracks the comparative strength of Indiana's AML sector, opportunities for growth, and workforce trends.
    • Provides policymakers, employers, and educators with a centralized view of the state's AML labor market.
  • Research and Reports
    • Conexus publishes industry research and insights to inform talent and economic development decisions across the state.
