Founded in 1996, Ad Astra is a software and consulting organization that partners with colleges and universities to optimize academic planning and course scheduling. Its mission is to help institutions remove barriers that slow students’ progress, align schedules with student needs, and make academic operations more efficient.
Examples of work include:
- Student-Centered Scheduling for Degree Completion: Provides tools that help colleges design course schedules based on when students need and prefer to take classes (including evenings, weekends, etc.). This helps working learners, adult students, and others with constrained schedules stay on track and complete their degrees in a timely way.
- Data-Driven Operational Efficiency and Equity: historical enrollment and demand data to forecast future class needs, reduce course cancellations, and optimize faculty and room assignment. This improves institutional financial health and ensures resources are deployed where they serve students best.
- Schedule Refinement & Scaling for Innovation: works with colleges and university systems to reexamine existing scheduling practices, remove bottlenecks, and accelerate enrollment and completion. This helps institutions adapt to evolving student and workforce demands.
