Created in 2014, America Succeeds is a nonprofit education advocacy organization that engages business leaders in modernizing education systems to drive equity and opportunity. The organization works to ensure that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy. Leveraging the influence and expertise of the business community to drive systems change in education, America Succeeds acts as an “education voice to business” on a national level and “business voice for education” at the state level—bridging the two constituencies to foster collaboration and innovation.

Main areas of focus include:

  • Advocacy for equitable educational opportunities.
  • Collaboration between business and education sectors.
  • Policy efforts to drive systemic changes in education.

A key pillar of the organization's work is conducting research that illustrates challenges and solutions, and disseminates findings from network partners that support others in joining the movement to transform the school-to-work pipeline.

Examples of recent work include:

  • Durable Skills Initiative - America Succeeds believes that better integrating durable skills into education pathways will help ensure a broader group of learners ultimately find success in their careers and communities.
  • Indiana Case Study - In 2022, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) initiated the Employability Skills Innovation and Implementation (ESII) Grant to prioritize workforce-relevant skills, specifically collaboration, communication, and work ethic (or "Durable Skills"). To share their model, IDOE collaborated with America Succeeds and Learner-Centered Collaborative to document the implementation process. America Succeeds played a key role in gathering insights from educators, students, and employers through on-the-ground engagement.
  • Skillsline Case Study – articulating the effectiveness of Skillsline’s online learning platform to help people cultivate Durable Skills.
  • No Worker Left Behind Report
