Founded in 2003, the Campaign for College Opportunity is a nonprofit organization created by the California Business Roundtable, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), and the Community College League of California. The organization's mission is to champion student-centered higher education policy transformation and dismantle inequitable systems to eliminate educational, income, and wealth inequities and achieve racial equity and economic justice for Californians. The organization aims to achieve its mission through partnerships, increasing public awareness, and policy advocacy.

Examples of recent work include:

  • AB 1122 and AB 731
    • Advocacy for two bills in California that expand dual enrollment to ensure more high school students can earn college credit before graduating.
  • AB 1705
    • Advocacy for co-sponsored legislation in California that allows community college students to be placed directly into transfer-level math and English courses, bypassing remedial classes.
  • Pathway Champions
    • Program recognition for 40 California community colleges and California State Universities as "Pathway Champions" for their work in creating and improving transfer pathways for students.
