Refers to the economic activity, products, services, workforce participation, innovation, and contributions to society associated with longer life expectancies and an aging population. The longevity economy recognizes older adults as consumers of goods and services as well as workers, entrepreneurs, volunteers, caregivers, investors, learners, and contributors to economic growth.

The concept reflects the growing reality that people are living longer, healthier lives and often remain active in employment, education, and community engagement beyond traditional retirement ages. As a result, governments, employers, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, financial services firms, technology providers, and workforce development organizations are increasingly adapting policies, programs, products, and services to support longer life courses.

Within the learn-and-work ecosystem, the longevity economy highlights the importance of lifelong learning, reskilling and upskilling; flexible career pathways; age-friendly employment practices; multigenerational workplaces; caregiving supports; and opportunities for individuals to continue contributing throughout a 100-year life course.
