The process of identifying, finding, and engaging prospective candidates for current or anticipated job openings rather than relying only on individuals who respond to job postings. Candidate sourcing may involve searching professional networks, resume or talent databases, previous applicant pools, employee referrals, industry or professional communities, social networks, and other sources. Increasingly, AI-enabled sourcing tools help employers identify potential candidates, match qualifications and skills with job requirements, and conduct or support initial outreach. Candidate sourcing may include both active job seekers and passive candidates who are not currently applying for jobs.
